The wingers and McCain Thursday, Jan 31 2008

It amuses me greatly to hear Limbaugh continue, day after day, to rip into McCain. McCain is a rock-ribbed Conservative. He anti-choice, pro-war, smaller-government conservative. He is perfect for Limbaugh. Unfortunately, he also believes in Global Warming and limiting political hit ads during the heat of a campaign by 3rd party groups. Those two items, above everything, have really launched Limbaugh into his spittle-rattling mode.

However, if/when McCain gets the nomination, regardless of what some of his base believes, he’ll get identified with the rightwing, straight-talker regardless, and that’s where he’ll stay. And, then, he’ll add to that several statements during the heat of the campaign where he says something really stupid, which he does all the time. And, the media, which run the themes of these campaigns, will realize what a doddering old man he is.

I think that it’d be best in this case for Obama to be the nominee. The stark difference between Obama and the doddering, dithering McCain is pretty obvious to most. Obama will be able to spin circles around the moronic pundit class that opine on most things of which they have no idea. I listened to the beltway monster queen last night on John Stewart’s show. And, at the end, she said something which was among the most incredible of things that she and the beltway have ever said. John asked her who was smaller, Bush for his continuing to call the Democratic party “Democrats”, among other things, or Clinton for his actions in South Carolina. It’s as close to a rhetorical question as it gets. However, this *itch said that Clinton was smaller.

These people will never get over their Clinton loathing. And, they hate to be called racists. So, perhaps for the beltway crowd, Obama is best. Even whats-her-face, seemed to agree that he’s a great candidate.

Either way, the gop is history.

The GOP candidates Friday, May 11 2007

I’m not inclined to, as yet, chat (rant) about the Democratic candidates for President. However, I am, yet again, appalled, truly, truly appalled by what the GOP presents as legitimate candidates for president. Thinking back to 2000, I was just as appalled. (Anyone remember that famous line, “Jesus Christ was my favorite philosopher”) There was always 1996 for more pathetic gop candidates. Although, I have to admit that Bob Dole, despite his scary Stepford wife, his radical turn to the rightwing, and his regurgitation of the anti-choice and anti-life mantras, was not so, so bad. And, then, you have to go back to 1980 for the next really wide open gop primary. And, that incarnation of George HW Bush was not so bad either. Reagan, of course, was a complete disaster. But, the candidates in 2000 and the candidates this year really compare well. And, IMO, goes to show you how completely bereft of sanity the GOP is. They’re all anti-choice, except for Guiliani who can’t make up his mind and Mitt Romney who used to be, and then changed because of …what?

The only one who sounded semi-sane in the gop debate last week was Mitt Romney. The problem with Romney is that he can’t make up his mind what he believes. When he was Gov of a Democratic state, he believed a whole host of interesting things. When he announce for president, all of a sudden, he changed a bunch of philosophies. I don’t know how the gop primary field is going to think about that. But, the interesting thing to determine is whether gop primary goers will actually vote for a mormon. It’s an interesting philosophical question.

McCain is truly insane. A doddering old man who is trying to recapture the lightening in a bottle that he had in his hand in 2000 before Bush push-polled his adopted black daughter in the south and sent him into the oblivion of ex-candidates. McCain could never regain his mo (which,  most likely, wouldn’t have lasted much longer anyway) and soon lost his mind. Trying to be ’straight-talk’ and trying to stay true to his values and trying to kowtow to the rightwing, he went insane.

Guiliani is even more pathetic. The man has virtually no redeaming qualities whatsoever. Anyone who watched his tenure in NY would know this. But, the media, and really the beltway media (read: Chris Matthews and his ilk) are so enamoured of anyone involved in the post-911 activity that they can’t stop talking about him. But, the real Guiliani is a joke. He’s a hot-tempered, irresponsible, fascist, rascist with no real claim to fame aside from cleaning up the streets of NY with the military. Yawn.

The rest of the field are true Troglodytes. Most don’t believe in evolution. god knows that they have the same opinion of global warming as the current occupant of the White House. They’d all have cut short their vacation and flown back to Washington to sign an unconstitutional bill to save Terry Shiavo. They’re really not worth an ounce of energy discussing.

Rantings about the Republicans Wednesday, Jan 3 2007

It’s a wonder that these guys can talk without their head spinning around and without breaking into laughs in between every word. The words that they speak now are words that have come out of Democrats’ mouths for the last 12 years and _ignored_! I read bush’s article in the WSJ yesterday and couldn’t stop myself from laughing. The guy was spouting complete garbage. Words that he clearly doesn’t believe and words that he hasn’t lived by over the last 6 years. It’s bizarro world!

And, then, I listened to the GOP’s press conference where they demanded that Pelosi pass ‘their’ minority bill of rights that was a copy of what Pelosi had written 2 years ago that was completely ignored by the gop people in charge, i.e. Hastert and DeLay. Completeley Ignored. Hastert didn’t even bother to return a letter saying that he wasn’t going to vote for anything like the bill of rights. He just blew off the Minority Leader. The rudeness and arrogance of this group defys belief. And, then, to listen to them whine about how Pelosi hasn’t been responding immediately to their concerns, even before she takes the Majority Leader slot, just causes me to gasp in amazement at the hypocrisy and unbelievable nerve.
