Stewart vs Kristol Wednesday, Jan 3 2007

Agreed that this is a couple of weeks old. But, I just saw a repeat of this episode. What I love most about it is that Kristol is lauded by the MSM constantly as a ’smart’ one. And, whether that’s true or not, I can’t say. What I can say is that he constantly and consistently says stupid things. And, what I can say is that Jon Stewart just ripped through him like a hot knife thru butter. Kristol says something stupid like (paraphrasing) bush has done a great job by going into Iraq because we haven’t been attacked since 2001. Stewart says that means that Clinton did a great job because we weren’t attacked for 8 years from 1993 to 2001. Kristol could have just given that point away. I mean, at this point, who cares? But, his reflexive anti-Clinton persona came out and he says, lamely, that no, we were attacked in Africa during those years. Like the 2 bombings in Africa were relevant to anything. Stewart then immediately says, well in that case, if we’re counting attacks outside of the US then we have to count the huge attacks in Spain, Portugal, England, etc. Kristol doesn’t realize (or maybe he does) how brutally out-maneuvered he’s been, so he says, we’ll this is a global war. Like that’s relevant to anything at all.

It was a very sweet destruction of a ’smart’ neocon. Thank you Jon Stewart.

Rantings about the Republicans Wednesday, Jan 3 2007

It’s a wonder that these guys can talk without their head spinning around and without breaking into laughs in between every word. The words that they speak now are words that have come out of Democrats’ mouths for the last 12 years and _ignored_! I read bush’s article in the WSJ yesterday and couldn’t stop myself from laughing. The guy was spouting complete garbage. Words that he clearly doesn’t believe and words that he hasn’t lived by over the last 6 years. It’s bizarro world!

And, then, I listened to the GOP’s press conference where they demanded that Pelosi pass ‘their’ minority bill of rights that was a copy of what Pelosi had written 2 years ago that was completely ignored by the gop people in charge, i.e. Hastert and DeLay. Completeley Ignored. Hastert didn’t even bother to return a letter saying that he wasn’t going to vote for anything like the bill of rights. He just blew off the Minority Leader. The rudeness and arrogance of this group defys belief. And, then, to listen to them whine about how Pelosi hasn’t been responding immediately to their concerns, even before she takes the Majority Leader slot, just causes me to gasp in amazement at the hypocrisy and unbelievable nerve.

Today’s Rant (01-02-07) Wednesday, Jan 3 2007

Today’s Rant is pionted towards bush, the insane one. It’s clear that his “plan” for Iraq has no basis in reality. His reasons for his expansion of troops are unclear. Here are my thoughts as to what they could be;

  • He’s insane (My personal favorite)
  • He genuinely believes that a troop increase will do something (’win’?) (see reason #1)
  • He’s unwilling to accept reality and he’s letting his ego run rampant (see reason #1)

Anything else? I can’t seem to be creative enough to find one. The fact that even his military doesn’t support  him and he’s got to go fire the general in charge who he’s been lauding for years.
